Someone excels in their work - their potential is recognised
They are promoted into a leadership role
This is a well trodden path to leadership, with 82% of new leaders taking on management responsibilities without any formal training. However, great technical ability doesn’t automatically equip someone to lead people, unite teams or shape a thriving school culture.
Our MLDP ends the cycle of Accidental Leadership so that middle and aspiring leaders understand what it truly means to be prepared to lead.
The MLDP, accredited by the Institute of Leadership, is a transformative process designed to cultivate and ignite the next generation of visionary leaders. By investing in this course, you will benefit from a strengthened leadership culture, improved staff retention and the development of future-ready leaders equipped to navigate the evolving landscape of leadership.
Experiences shape you. Martin, founder of Coaching 4 Schools, and I initially connected in 2024. However, it was realising we had a shared admiration for Great Ormond Street Hospital that prompted us to meet. Sharing our stories and experiences with honesty and openness about how they had shaped us as people was just the starting point. We discovered that we shared a deep-rooted passion for leadership in education, coaching and making the greatest difference possible. This connection was also to shape the next steps for our businesses, with values that aligned, and an opportunity to work in partnership on a new project.
We had both been Accidental Leaders within education and, in hindsight, perpetuated the cycle. We have been the senior leaders who had things landing on their desks throughout the day that started as molehills and had become mountains, swallowing our time and energy. The result of picking up the pieces is not just lost time at work, it is lost time at home when your workload gets shifted to after hours and the to-do list grows and grows.
The challenging education landscape that exists today demands a new way.
Our mission is to build leadership capability and confidence at the point where it is truly needed - in middle leadership. Ending the cycle of Accidental Leadership is an investment in creating capacity, and a leadership pipeline for the future. Aspiring leaders will be prepared to step up when the opportunity arises, and senior leaders can get out of the weeds and focus on what they do best; innovating and building a strategy for the future.
"Having participated in the inception and delivery of our middle leaders development programme, I can confidently attest to its exceptional quality and the tangible impact it will have on our school. The structured approach, combined with insightful and practical sessions, facilitated not only the enhancement of our leadership skills, but also fostered a spirit of collaboration and innovation among our aspiring leaders"
"I highly recommend the middle leaders development programme to any school that is looking to empower their staff with leadership skills that translate into meaningful educational success"
